Hand-Painted Chequerboard Floor, Hampstead

The existing timber floor was prepared before the chequerboard pattern was measured and set out across the room. Each diamond was masked and painted individually, with the surrounding sections left exposed to retain the warmth and grain of the original boards. Careful setting-out kept the pattern aligned through the narrow room and around fitted cabinetry, producing a practical decorative finish with the character of the timber still visible.
